There are events taking place all year long across the country and 21 locations have been officially announced, with additional dates being added throughout the year. "Reed Street Productions, creators of the first-ever zombie-infested 5K obstacle race, Run for Your Lives, announced today it will double its races in 2013 – expanding to 21 locations, including nine yet-to-be-invaded cities. New this year, participants can expect to encounter increasingly challenging obstacles and an enhanced Apocalypse Party experience. Additionally, Run For Your Lives added the Kennedy Krieger Institute – an internationally recognized institution dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with disorders and injuries of the brain – as its official charitable partner for 2013.

Run for Your Lives takes participants through a series of 10 to 12 manmade and natural obstacles – including a blood pit, zombie-infested maze and smokehouse – over a 5K course, all while being chased by professionally made up zombies. Participants can sign up as a runner, zombie or both, or choose to stand on the sidelines as a spectator and watch participants run for their lives. The inaugural race, which launched in Darlington, Md. in 2011, attracted more than 10,000 participants and spectators. In 2012, the race invaded 12 U.S. cities and hosted more than 100,000 participants who tested their survival skills against the zombie apocalypse.

“Run For Your Lives is excited to bring a unique physical and mental challenge to zombie-enthusiasts, fitness fanatics and first-time runners from coast-to-coast,” said Ryan Hogan, managing director of Reed Street Productions and co-creator of Run For Your Lives. “Whether you are excited to get chased by zombies, be transformed into the undead or just enjoy watching people scream like little girls while being chased, Run For Your Lives offers a little something for everyone.”
