Headed to theaters tomorrow night is Lars Klevberg’s remake of the ’80s classic Child’s Play, which takes the iconic Buddy doll (now named Buddi) in a bold new direction that focuses on the utilization of AI and home automation technologies, and also delivers up a brand-new version of the murderous doll who only wants to be your best friend. Written by Tyler Burton Smith, Child’s Play (2019) stars Aubrey Plaza, Gabriel Bateman, Brian Tyree Henry, and features the unforgettable vocal talents of Mark Hamill, who plays Chucky here.

At the recent press day for Child’s Play (2019), Daily Dead spoke with Brian Tyree Henry, who plays Detective Mike Norris, the cop tasked with investigating a string of grisly murders, whose mom lives right down the hall from Karen (Plaza) and Andy Barclay (Bateman). During our interview with Henry, he discussed his own deep-seated love for horror movies and how much he appreciates the way these stories can be utilized to tap into deeper themes. Henry also talked about his memories surrounding the hysteria of the original Child’s Play, his thoughts on why this version of Chucky ends up being so memorable, and more.
