As expected, moviegoers flocked to theaters over the US holiday weekend and X-Men: Day of Future Past performed very well, earning $90.7 million. Its domestic take is a little bit under recent releases like Godzilla and The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but it should have a bit more staying power and is doing very well internationally.
Godzilla got knocked down to second place this weekend, adding another $31 to it's total. Worldwide, the movie has earned $315 million and a sequel is already in the very early stages of development. Blended was another new release this weekend and the Adam Sandler comedy failed to spark any real interest, with it only earning $14.2 million.
This weekend saw Neighbors cross the $100 million mark, while The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is struggling to reach $200 million. Next week's big releases include Maleficent and A Million Ways to Die in the West. Here's a look at this week's top ten:
