This weekend belonged to Maleficent, which easily claimed the top spot at the US box office by earning $70 million.Internationally, the movie pulled in an additional $100 million, so it's a strong start for the live-action retelling of Sleeping Beauty.

In second place is X-Men: Days of Future Past with $32.6 million and the latest X-Men sequel has earned $500 million worldwide to date. This weekend saw the opening of A Million Ways to Die in the West, and the new movie from Seth MacFarlane failed to generate the same level of interest that Ted did, only earning $17 million.

Godzilla placed forth this weekend and is nearing the $375 million mark worldwide. Neighbors continues to perform very well, adding another $7.7 million to its box office take. With a budget of only $18 million, Neighbors has earned over $200 million worldwide. Speaking of $200 million, The Amazing Spider-Man has been struggling to cross that mark in the US, but at $192.7 million, it's likely to break $200 million by next weekend.
