Weekend Box Office Update

2011/10/03 01:19:19 +00:00 | Jonathan James

None of this weekend's new releases managed to break into the top 3. Instead, Dolphin Tale claimed the top spot, earning an estimated $14.2 million. As expected, Moneyball held strong at 2nd place, earning $12.5 million. Dream House underperformed this weekend, earning only $8.2 million, but it wasn't completely unexpected due to a weak marketing push and lack of critical praise.

Next week's releases include Real Steel, The Ides of March, and the beginning of a limited run of The Human Centipede 2 (Full Sequence). Here are the top 10 box office results for this weekend:

1.  Dolphin Tale - $14,245,000
2.  Moneyball - $12,500,000
3.  The Lion King 3D - $11,057,000
4.  50/50 - $8,858,000
