It was no surprise that The Hunger Games would claim this weekend's top spot. The surprise was that it earned $155 million, making it the third best opening weekend, and the biggest opening of all time for a non-sequel.

21 Jump Street took second place with a solid $21.3 million, taking its total to $71 million in just two weeks. The Lorax earned $13.1 million in third place, with a total of $177.3 million since opening. Unfortunately, none of the other films in the top ten were close to cracking the $10 million mark this weekend. It will be tough for John Carter to even cross the $75 million mark before it leaves theaters.

Next weekend's big openings include Mirror Mirror and Wrath of the Titans, along with the limited release of Intruders. Here are the top 10 box office results from this weekend:

1. The Hunger Games - $155,000,000
2. 21 Jump Street - $21,300,000
3. The Lorax - $13,100,000
4. John Carter - $5,014,000
5. Act of Valor - $2,062,000
6. Project X - $1,950,000
7. A Thousand Words - $1,925,000
8. October Baby - $1,718,000
9. Safe House - $1,400,000
