There's no shortage of independent horror news sent our way and we're back with another edition of the Indie Spotlight. Today, we have information on a short film from the makers of DeadHeads, a limited run of Geeks vs. Zombies, and much more:

Geeks vs. Zombies: "Four geeks have survived the initial onsluaght of the zombie apocalypse and continue to survive based on their knowledge of all things zombie. They find themselves in an abandoned civil war fort where they run into another group of survivors… but not quite the geeks they are.

As the fort is surrounded by zombies and the zombies start to get in the fort, the geeks must decide what their next step is. Everyone knows that when two groups join up in a zombie movie, it means people are going to die. Do the geeks abandon these new people, kill them, or what? In this new world of zombies, the geek is king and these new people could destroy all that."

The show is located at The Ruby Theatre in Hollywood and plays Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 7pm until September 23rd. For more information, visit: http://www.seatofyourpantsproductions.com/

Cthulhu Mythos Encyclopedia Available in eBook Format: "Arc Dream Publishing is proud to present the first-ever ebook edition of the legendary Cthulhu Mythos Encyclopedia by Dan Harms. The Cthulhu Mythos Encyclopedia explains every mind-blasting facet of the Cthulhu Mythos envisioned by H.P. Lovecraft and expanded by countless horror writers and gamers in the decades since the master's death.

Cthulhu Mythos Encyclopedia author Dan Harms said about the ebook edition: "It's amazing to me how people still tell me how much they appreciate the Encyclopedia, even fifteen years after the first edition. Authors and gamers alike tell me how it has enriched their creative works by providing them with a quick reference to the wonderful, horrific world of the Cthulhu Mythos. I hope the new e-book edition will be valuable to both old and new fans."

From "Abbith" to "Zylac," with in-depth stops along the way for the likes of "Azathoth" and "Yog-Sothoth," the Cthulhu Mythos Encyclopedia painstakingly pieces together disassociated knowledge of every last Thing Which Man Was Not Meant to Know."

Smush! - A DeadHeads Short Film: If you enjoyed the indie zombie comedy DeadHeads, you'll be interested in Smush!, a short film from the same creative team that just premiered at FrightFest:

"The Pierce Brothers (Brett & Drew Pierce) of FroBro Films are proud to announce that “SMUSH!” a short comedy/horror film starring Markus Taylor (DeadHeads), Travis Betz (Lo, The Dead Inside), Greg Dow (DeadHeads), and new-comer, 7 year old Georgia Rose
Matlack (Horror House) will get it’s world premiere screening at the 13th prestigious FILM4 FrightFest on Saturday August 25th, before the premiere of OUTPOST 2: Black Sun.

“Smush! – a DeadHeads Short” is the tale of a little girl left home alone amid a zombie outbreak, who makes unlikely friends with a flesh-starved intruder.

“We were homesick for DeadHeads. We missed the crew, the cast, and the characters so we got the old team together, went out in the woods, and got the cops called on us for old times sake. There’s nothing more fun than making movies,” says Brett Pierce, one half of the writer/director brother duo.

“Smush!” is a short film prequel of the zombie comedy hit DeadHeads that screened at FILM4 FrightFest last year and was released on DVD/Blu-Ray in January. It features fan-favorite zombie, Cheese, in an early misadventure."

We've included photos from Smush! below and hope to have more screening and release details in the near future.
