When I caught up with Greg Nicotero at Comic-Con last week, he mentioned that they're pushing the envelope even further with the walker effects this year and that they'll be much more decomposed than last season. Today, we have a look at two photos that show off walkers we'll see early in the season.

For those that missed my interview, here's what Greg Nicotero had to say:

"Scott has one very specific thing that he is conscious of, which is, it can't be a Ray Harryhausen. It can't be a walking skeleton; there always has to be muscle. There always has to be something that is motivating the movements, but we are doing more with the rib cage, and just having exposed bone. You can see a couple in the Comic-Con trailer.

We're doing a few things this year we haven't done before, which is digital augmentation on a couple walkers. We're removing noses and putting a cavity there, and taking the area underneath the rib cage and shrinking it down.

We've refined the teeth even more, and we just keep changing it up, and every season it's different, and we're just sort of pushing it a little bit more. It's been really fun. We sculpted full muscle arms that then we add sagging flesh off of them as if everything's just starting to drip off. It's always fun, and it's always exciting to do stuff like that."

The first two images were taken by Greg Nicotero, while the third image comes from the official Facebook page for the TV series and was taken by Gene Page. For the third photo, I've been told that the Season 6 premiere will feature the most walkers we've seen in a single episode and this looks to be from one of those scenes. To read our recent coverage of The Walking Dead Season 6, visit:
