Details the upcoming convention screening of Bloodsucking Bastards, as well as casting updates for the Scream TV series and AMC's Preacher pilot, are featured in our latest round-up.

Bloodsucking Bastards: The office-set horror comedy Bloodsucking Bastards will screen at the Texas Frightmare Weekend on May 2nd at 8pm:

Press Release -- "An Office Space meets Shaun of the Dead action-packed horror comedy, BLOODSUCKING BASTARDS stars Fran Kranz as Evan Sanders, a low-level, dutiful employee stuck in a boring job at a soul-killing every corporation. Evan’s the kind of guy who does all the work and gets none of the credit, but at least he gets to spend his days with his beautiful co-worker/girlfriend Amanda (Emma Fitzpatrick) and his slacker best friend Tim (Joey Kern).

Unfortunately, it all falls apart in one fell swoop when Amanda breaks up with him and Evan’s boss Ted (Joel Murray) hands his promotion to his college nemesis Max (Pedro Pascal). And it isn’t just their sordid past Evan has to deal with. After his fellow officemates start going through disturbing changes (which, paradoxically, make them better employees) and bodies begin to pile up, Evan learns the horrible truth: Max is a vampire. And even worse… a vamp with a plan.

BLOODSUCKING BASTARDS takes audiences on a hilarious, blood-spattered roller coaster ride in the most terrifying locale of all: the American workplace. Evan must find a way to stop the evil brewing amidst the cubicles, expose Max as the bloodsucking bastard that he is, win back Amanda, and save his pals before his life and career go from dead-end… to just dead.

BLOODSUCKING BASTARDS was developed by Fortress Features and Maybe This Year (MTY) Productions in partnership with Dr. God and director O’Connell. The film was written by Dr. God and Ryan Mitts, financed by Fortress and MTY, and produced by Fortress’ Brett Forbes and Patrick Rizzotti (The Collector and The Collection), MTY’s Brandon Evans and Colleen Hard, and Dr. God’s Justin Ware."

Directed by Brian James O’Connell and written by the comedy troupe Dr. God from an original script by Ryan Mitts, Bloodsucking Bastards stars Fran Kranz (Cabin in the Woods), Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones, NARCOS), Joey Kern (Cabin Fever), Joel Murray (Mad Men), Emma Fitzpatrick (The Collection, The Social Network), Justin Ware (Dr. God, Cloud 9), David F. Park (Dr. God, AXS TV’s Super Party Super Special) , Neil Garguilo (Dr.God, Awkward) and Sean Cowhig (Dr. God, Mockpocalypse).

Preacher Series Pilot: Filling in the shoes of another major supporting character from Preacher's first story arc, W. Earl Brown has been cast as Sheriff Hugo Root for the AMC's Preacher TV series pilot, according to /Film.

Readers of the Preacher comics remember Sheriff Root as the stern father of Eugene, aka Arseface. When all hell (or rather, heaven) breaks loose in his small Texas town, he's one of the first people to realize that something truly otherworldly is going on, though his inappropriate behavior and over-the-top conspiracy theories make his word a little wobbly in the eyes of his superiors.

Since its first publication run from 1995 – 2000, readers have embraced the dark humor, thought-provoking writing, and visceral violence of Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon's Preacher comic book series, and with AMC's Preacher series pilot, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and Sam Catlin are looking to bring that paneled page magic to the small screen.

Dominic Cooper (Captain America: The First Avenger, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Dracula Untold) will play the lead role of Jesse Custer in AMC's Preacher series pilot. The cast also includes Lucy Griffiths as church organist Emily Woodrow, Joseph Gilgun as Irish vampire Cassidy, and Ian Colletti as Eugene Root, aka "Arseface." Should AMC decide to put in a full series order for Preacher, the show would likely premiere in 2016. Stay tuned to Daily Dead for further announcements.
