Press Release: It’s that time of year again Horror and Sci-Fi friends, that time to cozy up with your popcorn and cold beverage to watch the horrific, bizarre, otherworldly sights we have planned at the 14th Annual International Horror and Sci-Fi Film Festival which takes place at Harkins Scottsdale 101 from April 6th-15th.

We have expanded to 10 days and have more programming for your eyes to feast upon at the festival this year. With so many films to talk about we wanted to take the time leading up to April 6th to shine some light on a few films from our program

Our opening night film is DOWNRANGE from our friends at Shudder and is directed by Ryuhei Kitamura (Midnight Meat Train and Versus).

Cast: Kelly Connaire, Stephanie Pearson, Rod Hernandez-Farella, Anthony Kirlew, Alexa Yeames, Jason Tobias

Synopsis: A tire blowout brings a van to a sudden stop, and its youthful occupants become stranded within the crosshairs of an enigmatic sniper. Relying on the paltry protection of their vehicle and its resources, these hapless targets must rise to the occasion should they hope to best the barrage of bullets streaking towards them.

We have the punk rock slasher mashup with Jenn Wexler’s THE RANGER.

Cast: Chloë Levine, Granit Lahu, Jeremy Pope, Bubba Weiler, Amanda Grace Benitez, Jeremy Holm, Larry Fessenden

Synopsis: When Chelsea and her friends get in trouble with the cops, they flee the city and go on the run. Fueled by a hallucinogenic drug called Echo, they hope to lay low—and get high—in an old family hideout in the woods. But Chelsea’s got reservations about going back to nature and secrets she’s not sharing with her friends. When a shot rings out, her past comes crashing back, and the punks find themselves pitted against the local authority— an unhinged park ranger with an axe to grind.
