Fans anticipating the next installment in the Yautja franchise now have a little less time to wait, as 20th Century Fox has bumped up the release of The Predator by nearly one month.
According to Box Office Mojo, The Predator is now set to hit theaters on February 9th, 2018, moving the film up from its previous release date of March 2nd, 2018.
Shane Black (who co-starred as the wisecracking Rick Hawkins in the original Predator) will direct from a screenplay he co-wrote with Fred Dekker (who helmed Night of the Creeps and The Monster Squad—a film also written with Black). Plot details are unknown at this time, but the new film is expected to be more of a sequel than a reboot. Although there has been early speculation, it's unclear at this time whether or not Arnold Schwarzenegger will reprise his role as Dutch from 1987's Predator.
Throughout his filmmaking career, Black has delivered when it comes to character development and engrossing action. His directorial debut, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, cemented itself as a must-see cult film, and Iron Man 3 made a big splash in the box office. Black’s new movie, the 1977-set The Nice Guys, is currently in theaters and features an intriguing mystery and outstanding chemistry between Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling. Stay tuned to Daily Dead for more details on The Predator as they are revealed.
