Fans of the Resident Evil games should get excited, as Capcom recently announced that the upcoming re-release of Resident Evil 5 will be available digitally on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One beginning on June 28th, 2016, with a retail release set for July 12th.
Originally released in 2009, this updated version of Resident Evil 5 has been given the full treatment. It’s remastered in full 1080p, has an increased frame rate, and includes both The Desperate Escape and Lost in Nightmares DLCs.
In addition to the multiplayer modes featured in the original Resident Evil 5, also included in this updated version will be the once PC-exclusive, ultra-hard “No Mercy” mode. This follows Capcom’s plan of re-releasing updated versions of Resident Evil 4, 5, and 6 in reverse order, as they started with Resident Evil 6 back in March.
And for those of you with itchy trigger fingers, Resident Evil 5 is already available for pre-order and will be released at 12:01 am on June 28th for $19.99. To help hold you over until the release date arrives, we have screenshots from the remastered Resident Evil 5 below, as well as the game's official details:
"One of the most popular Resident Evil titles comes to Xbox One in full 1080p HD with an increased frame rate. Featuring single-player and co-op modes and a dramatic storyline, this fully-loaded release includes all previously released DLC (Lost in Nightmares and Desperate Escape story expansions, Versus mode, extra figures and 4 costumes), and the previously PC-exclusive No Mercy mode, as well as the new mode “The Mercenaries United” which combines the two fan-favorite modes, The Mercenaries and The Mercenaries Reunion for an even more intense experience."
