A devourer of humans with an appetite for fear, the titular evil entity from Stephen King's IT received a makeover for the upcoming film adaptation, and while Entertainment Weekly gave fans the first look at Bill Skarsgård as Pennywise back in July, they now have a new image of the clown's entire creepy costume.
Unveiled by EW in the image below, Pennywise's outfit was created by costume designer Janie Bryant (AMC's Mad Men, 2009's The Last House on the Left) who intertwined styles from different eras to reflect the near immortality of IT. The time periods touched upon in the costume include the Medieval, Renaissance, Elizabethan, and Victorian days, according to EW.
IT is planned as a two-movie adaptation, with the first film following the Losers’ Club as kids facing evil incarnate in the small town of Derry in the 1980s, with the second movie expected to focus on the Losers’ Club as adults once again tasked with defeating the malevolent entity that haunts their hometown… and their souls.
Muschietti (Mama) directs IT from a screenplay he wrote with Gary Doberman. Dan Lin, Roy Lee, Seth Grahame-Smith, and David Katzenberg are on board as producers, with Jon Silk executive producing the project.
In addition to Skarsgård, the cast for the new IT movie includes Finn Wolfhard, Jaeden Lieberher, Jack Dylan Grazer, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Owen Teague, Sophia Lillis, and Nicholas Hamilton.
IT is scheduled for a September 8th, 2017 release from Warner Bros. Stay tuned to Daily Dead for more details, and in case you missed them, check out director Andy Muschietti's new behind-the-scenes photos from the set of IT.
