Legendary will bring colossal creatures to the big screen in the new Godzilla and Pacific Rim movies, and official titles for the sequels have now been revealed.

According to Deadline, Legendary is bringing Herbert W. Gains aboard as EVP Physical Production to supervise the development of upcoming feature films for the production company, including Godzilla: King of Monsters and Pacific Rim: Uprising, which are the current titles for the Godzilla and Pacific Rim sequels.

Godzilla: King of Monsters will sound familiar to fans of the radioactive reptile, as Toho's 1956 film Godzilla, King of the Monsters! had a similar title. Pacific Rim 2, meanwhile, was previously rumored to be called Pacific Rim: Maelstrom.

Michael Dougherty and Zach Shields (Krampus) were recently brought on to co-write Godzilla: King of Monsters, with Trick ’r Treat director Dougherty rumored to potentially direct the sequel as well.

Godzilla: King of Monsters is scheduled to come out on March 22nd, 2019. A previous draft of the screenplay was worked on by Max Borenstein, who penned 2014's Godzilla. Back in May, director Gareth Edwards (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) departed the sequel.

Pacific Rim: Uprising, meanwhile, is being directed by Steven S. DeKnight (Spartacus, Netflix’s Daredevil), who earlier this year took the directing reins of the sequel to Guillermo del Toro’s 2013 film. Derek Connolly (Jurassic World) was later brought on to work on the screenplay for the new Pacific Rim movie, with an earlier draft written by Jon Spaihts (The Mummy, Doctor Strange, Prometheus).

Scheduled for a February 23rd, 2018 release, Pacific Rim: Uprising stars John Boyega (Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Attack the Block) as the son of Stacker Pentecost, the character portrayed by Idris Elba in the original film. The cast also includes Cailee Spaeny, with Scott Eastwood expected to play a key role as well. Boyega’s UpperRoom Productions is producing the project along with Thomas Tull, Mary Parent, Jon Jashni, and Guillermo del Toro.
