Weekend Box Office Update

The Lorax took first place at the box office this weekend. Earning an estimated $70.7 million, it is the biggest opening weekend of the year. Project X was distant second, but earned a respectable $20.7 million. Safe House crossed the $100 million mark with its $7.2 million weekend take. This is Denzel Washington's highest grossing movie since American Gangster in 2007.

Next weekend's genre releases include John Carter and Silent House, along with the release of the comedy A Thousand Words. Here are the top 10 movies for this weekend:
