Now that 2019 is a few weeks old, that means it is time once again for fans to start getting ready for a brand new year of conventions and horror-themed events. Around these parts, we have a lot of love for Flashback Weekend, as it’s an event that has been a part of this writer’s life for well over a decade now, and several other staff members have visited the con in recent years. A while back, we shared that the legendary Bruce Campbell was making his return to Flashback this August, and now we have an idea of several other icons and genre greats that will be joining him in Rosemont later this year.
Flashback Weekend has revealed that not only are genre legends Robert Englund and Tony Todd appearing at this year’s convention alongside Campbell, delivering up three titans of terror, but we also get to enjoy none other than Sam FREAKING Raimi as well, and I could not be more excited about all of this. More attendees have been announced for FBW 2019 as well, including Virginia Madsen and Ted Raimi (ensuring lots of Candyman fun will be in store that weekend), Alicia Witt, and Return of the Living Dead 3’s Melinda Clarke (The O.C. FOREVER). It’s an impressive start for Flashback’s 2019 lineup, and I’m so excited for what else they may have in store for attendees.
Flashback Weekend is Chicago’s largest and longest-running horror convention, and for 2019, it will be running from Friday, August 2nd through August 4th at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare Hotel (5440 N. Sam Raimi is the groundbreaking and innovative director of the Evil Dead trilogy (“THE EVIL DEAD”, “EVIL DEAD 2: DEAD BY DAWN”, and “ARMY OF DARKNESS”), the original Spider-Man trilogy (“SPIDER-MAN” (2002), “SPIDER-MAN 2” (2004) and “SPIDER-MAN 3” (2007)), and many more classics including “DRAG ME TO HELL”, “A SIMPLE PLAN”, and “OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL”. Heather A. Wixson was born and raised in the Chicago suburbs, until she followed her dreams and moved to Los Angeles in 2009. A 14-year veteran in the world of horror entertainment journalism, Wixson fell in love with genre films at a very early age, and has spent more than a decade as a writer and supporter of preserving the history of horror and science fiction cinema.
