Since Zombieland introduced the double tap survival rule in 2009, many fans have been hungry for a sequel, and last summer it was revealed that Zombieland 2 would indeed be moving forward with the original cast returning. In the post-apocalypse, though, the survivors from the first film are bound to encounter new faces, and it's been revealed that Rosario Dawson has joined the cast, and the official poster and potential title for the sequel have also been revealed.
Revealed on the official Zombieland Twitter account as part of the movie's own 10 Year Challenge, the first poster for the Zombieland sequel (see below) can be viewed below, featuring the characters in nearly identical poses to the original movie's poster. The new poster also comes the tagline "Double Tap," which could mean that the sequel's official title is Zombieland: Double Tap.
Additionally, the news of Rosario Dawson's casting comes from The Hollywood Reporter. Details on her character are unknown at this time, so we'll have to wait and see if she'll be a friend or foe of the quartet from the first film.
Zombieland 2 is slated for an October 11th, 2019 release in the US, which means that the movie will come out a little over one week after its 10th anniversary.
The Hollywood Reporter previously unveiled the news of Zombieland 2 moving forward at Columbia Pictures, revealing that Emma Stone (Wichita), Woody Harrelson (Tallahassee), Jesse Eisenberg (Columbus) and Abigail Breslin (Little Rock) are all set to reprise their roles as the motley crew of zombie apocalypse survivors from the first film.
In addition to reuniting the cast in front of the camera, key creative forces are also coming back behind the camera as well, including Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer (Venom), who will once again direct from a script written by Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese (Deadpool). Gavin Polone is also returning as a producer, with Lauren Abrahams supervising the sequel.
According to THR, Zombieland 2 will follow "the quartet from the White House to the American heartland as they face off against new kinds of zombies that have evolved since the first movie, as well as some new human survivors. But, most of all, according to the studio, they have to face the growing pains of their own snarky, makeshift family."
