It looks like fans of Dune will have to wait a good bit longer before another trip to Arrakis. According to Deadline, Paramount has decided to abandon the project and let their deal to create a new version of Dune expire. Paramount has tried to move forward with Dune for the last four years, with Peter Berg and Pierre Morel both being previously attached to direct.

Richard P. Rubinstein holds the rights to the Dune franchise, but is unsure of what the plan for moving forward will be:

“I’m going to look at my options, and whether I wind up taking the script we developed in turnaround, or start over, I’m not sure yet.”
