Happy Friday, everyone! I’m sure you’re just as relieved as I am that we’re just about to put another week behind us, and to get you ready to head into the weekend, Daily Dead has put together our installment of Salutes Your Shorts, serving up four different bites of frights that genre fans who enjoy short-form horrors definitely should get a kick out of.
First up is The Cat With Hands, which was recently brought to my attention via a tweet from none other than Guillermo del Toro, and when GDT says you should watch something, that means you should really check it out. Then, we have Avishai Weinberger’s Third Date, Polaroid from Lars Klevberg (who is directing the Child’s Play remake), and then we are rounding out this edition of Salutes Your Shorts with Alfred J Hemlock (which this writer had the pleasure of covering during the summer of 2017).

Synopsis: A short film about a bad pussy...
Third Date (Directed by Avishai Weinberger)
Synopsis: An insecure young woman with a secret goes on a date with a charming young man, and slowly falls into his supernatural trap.
POLAROID (Directed by Lars Klevberg)
Synopsis: Two girls are moving out after Sarah's mother has passed away. In the clearing they exploit an old Polaroid camera possessed by a dark past.
Alfred J. Hemlock (Directed by Edward Lyons)
Synopsis: When Emily’s boyfriend abandons her in the night, her only way home is through an alleyway where she is terrorized by the mysterious entity Alfred J Hemlock. After reaching the depths of her despair, she finds the strength that she never suspected she had.
Heather A. Wixson was born and raised in the Chicago suburbs, until she followed her dreams and moved to Los Angeles in 2009. A 14-year veteran in the world of horror entertainment journalism, Wixson fell in love with genre films at a very early age, and has spent more than a decade as a writer and supporter of preserving the history of horror and science fiction cinema. Throughout her career, Wixson has contributed to several notable websites, including Fangoria, Dread Central, Terror Tube, and FEARnet, and she currently serves as the Managing Editor for Daily Dead, which has been her home since 2013. She's also written for both Fangoria Magazine & ReMind Magazine, and her latest book project, Monsters, Makeup & Effects: Volume One will be released on October 20, 2021.
