You may think "more cowbell" when you think of Blue Öyster Cult, but others think of the King of the Monsters. One of my favorite memories from going to the Minnesota State Fair every year since I was a little kid is seeing a free concert by Blue Öyster Cult and watching them perform "Godzilla." Now, more than 40 years after it was first released, the beloved Blue Öyster Cult song is being covered by Bear McCreary and System of a Down's Serj Tankian for a cover that is included in the upcoming Godzilla: King of the Monsters soundtrack, and you can listen to the catchy theme song in its entirety before it hits the big screen!
You can listen to "Godzilla" and the epic "Old Rivals" track below, courtesy of WaterTower Music, and check here to catch up on our previous coverage of Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
"The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance."
Directed by Michael Dougherty (Krampus, Trick 'r Treat), Godzilla: King of the Monsters stars Vera Farmiga, Ken Watanabe, Sally Hawkins, Kyle Chandler, Millie Bobby Brown, Bradley Whitford, Thomas Middleditch, Charles Dance, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Aisha Hinds and Zhang Ziyi. A Legendary Pictures film, Godzilla: King of the Monsters will be released to theaters on May 31st, 2019 from Warner Bros.
