Arriving in theaters this weekend is Lars Klevberg’s remake of the ’80s classic Child’s Play, which takes the iconic Buddy doll (now Buddi) into a bold new direction that focuses on the utilization of AI and home automation technologies, and a murderous doll who only wants to be your best friend. Written by Tyler Burton Smith, Child’s Play (2019) stars Aubrey Plaza, Gabriel Bateman, Brian Tyree Henry, and features the unforgettable vocal talents of Mark Hamill, who plays Chucky in this iteration.
During the recent Child’s Play (2019) press day, Daily Dead sat down with both Plaza and Bateman, who play Karen and Andy Barclay in the film, and the duo discussed how the appeal of the character of Chucky initially drew them in, taking on new character opportunities, their experiences working with the film’s animatronic doll, and their feelings on how this story taps into the dangers of technology.
