IN2U: A Sinister New Horror Short Dives Into the Dark Side of Desire and Technology: "Prepare to be unnerved. IN2U, a new horror short film from award-winning Latina director Adrienne Acevedo Lovette, is turning heads and churning stomachs as it explores the terrifying intersections of loneliness, desire, and digital connection. Written by award-winning writer John A. Rice, IN2U tells a chilling story that feels otherworldly and uncomfortably close to home.

Set in the eerie glow of cam sites and dating apps, IN2U follows Cam, a charismatic yet emotionally isolated adult content creator, whose longing for validation leads him into a nightmarish encounter with a shapeshifting entity hiding behind a seductive online persona. When Cam lets his guard down and shares his address with the mysterious “In2U,” the horror becomes not just virtual, but flesh and blood.

With a haunting visual style and grounded performances, IN2U taps into the deeply human fear of being truly seen—and consumed—by forces beyond our control.

It will be making its West Coast premiere at the famous DANCES WITH FILMS festival in Los Angeles, CA. Screening at the historical TCL Chinese Theatre, Midnight Series Blck 2 at 11:45 pm on Saturday, June 28th. Q & A to follow.

“We wanted to explore how vulnerability can become a gateway for horror,” says Rice.

“There’s something terrifying about being emotionally naked in a world that thrives on surface-level connection,” says Lovette.

Starring:

  • Introducing Christian Prins Coen (They/Them) as Cam and Emily Mesa as Macy
  • Dre Davis (Pretty Little Liars, Blue Bloods) as In2u

The Creative Team:

  • Directed by: Adrienne Acevedo Lovette (I’M OKAY WE’RE OKAY, The Dark Room, Hidden Daylight
  • Written by: John A. Rice (Hidden Daylight, The Dark Room
  • Executive Produced by: Margaret Romolo Zukor, Elod Zoltan Filyo, Eddie Martinez
  • Produced by: The Garage Productions & Man of the Crowd Productions & VOE Coqui Productions
  • Cinematography by: Bryan Paez

What Makes IN2U Different?

IN2U merges psychological horror with body horror in a short, visceral package designed to haunt audiences long after the final frame. The film is a timely commentary on online performance culture, the hunger for human connection, and the predators—both digital and supernatural—that feed on that hunger. "
