Dark Ink & CREATORVC Announce ALIENS: EXPANDED Deluxe Coffee Table Book Written By Jonathan James

It’s a bit of a surreal day today. The Daily Dead team and long-time readers know of my lifelong love of the Alien franchise. More than any other film, Aliens had the biggest impact on my passion for sci-fi, horror, and making movie monsters. It continues to be foundational in what I’m doing today, and I can’t believe I’m even typing this: I’m writing a book on the making and lasting legacy of Aliens!

From Dark Ink and CREATORVC, ALIENS: EXPANDED is a companion book to the excellent, must-watch documentary of the same name from CREATORVC that was directed and written by Ian Nathan and executive produced by Robin Block. This hardcover coffee table book will guide you through the making of Aliens with those who were responsible for bringing the movie to life: it’s designed in an oral history style to provide all kinds of insights and personal stories from those who lived it, with additional insight from your humble author. We’ll also dive into the impact of Aliens, and how it expanded into comic books, collectibles, video games, and more!

Late last year, I was extremely fortunate to spend the weekend in Gruyères, Switzerland. It’s my happy place, not just because of the cheese fondue (which is excellent!), but most importantly because it’s the home of H.R. Giger’s museum and bar. My wife, Christy, took me there as an early, surprise birthday celebration, and it was restorative and energizing in a way I’ve rarely experienced. I didn’t know at the time that I’d be asked to write a book on the making and legacy of Aliens, but, leaving Gruyères, I knew that I wanted to take on new projects, new challenges, and stretch myself creatively.

Now, nearly 40 years to the day since Aliens was released to theaters, it’s a pinch-me moment to share with you all that I’m writing a book on the incomparable film. I want to give a huge thank you to CREATORVC, Dark Ink, Heather Wixson, Derek Anderson, and, of course, everyone responsible for bringing Aliens to life! I can't wait to share this book with all of you!

The book is now officially available for pre-order and I’ve included all of the details below. I’ll be at San Diego Comic-Con next week, so feel free to stop me any time to talk all things Aliens!

Dark Ink and CREATORVC Announce Aliens: Expanded Deluxe Coffee Table Book

Dark Ink is proud to announce Aliens: Expanded, a deluxe limited-edition coffee table book inspired by the acclaimed documentary by CREATORVC, celebrating the making, impact, and enduring legacy of James Cameron's groundbreaking 1986 science-fiction masterpiece, Aliens.
