Weekend Box Office Update

The Dark Knight Rises claimed the top spot again at the box office this weekend, earning another $36 million and bringing it's domestic total to $354.6 million. Total Recall placed a distant second with $26 million. While this won't be a runaway hit for Sony, international ticket sales and the next few weeks at the US box office could keep the film out of the red.

Ted is really one of the big surprises of the summer. This R-rated comedy keeps bringing in money for Universal and crossed the $200 million mark this week. To put that in perspective, the new Spider-Man movie just crossed the $250 million mark and they only opened a week apart. It's a pretty impressive feat for an original R-rated film.

We have a steady stream of horror movies coming up, starting in the middle of August. Until then, the big releases for this Friday will include The Bourne Legacy and The Campaign. Here are the top ten results for this weekend:

1. The Dark Knight Rises - $36,440,000
2. Total Recall - $26,000,000
3. Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days - $14,700,000
4. Ice Age: Continental Drift - $8,400,000
5. The Watch - $6,350,000
6. Ted - $5,479,000
7. Step Up Revolution -  $5,300,000
8. The Amazing Spider-Man - $4,300,000
9. Brave - $2,890,000
10. Magic Mike - $1,380,000
