2011/05/08 19:42:01 +00:00 | Jonathan James

The big new release this weekend was Thor, which earned $66,000,000. This isn't a bad start for a less popular Marvel hero with a relatively unknown lead actor, but we'll need to see how strong ticket sales are over the next few weeks.

After 5 weeks at the box office, Insidious has finally been knocked out of the top 10. Insidious placed 11th and earned $1,324,000 this weekend, for a total US gross of $50,304,000. Scream 4 placed 15th, earning an estimated $702,000 this weekend and bringing its US total to $36,921,000.

1    Thor - $66,000,000
