Back in 2006, a script for a dark-re-imagining of Peter Pan was purchased as a potential project for Guillermo Del Toro to direct. That obviously fell through, but the project is back on track with a new director and a new cast.
Ben Hibon, who is known for his animation work from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I was announced as the director late last year for the project officially referred to as Pan. The story will focus on Hook and Smee, detectives who chase down a "childlike kidnapper" with the help of Wendy.
According to Screen Daily, Aaron Eckhart (Battle: LA, The Dark Knight) has been cast at Hook, Sean Bean (The Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones) will be playing Smee, and AnnaSophia Robb (Race to Witch Mountain) has been cast as Wendy. There are additional details on the plot or who will be playing Pan, but we'll know more later this year, as filming is expected to begin in October.
