**Updated with additional images** The world premiere of Evil Dead at SXSW is only weeks away and we'll soon know if the movie lives up to the hype. It won't be released to theaters until April 5th, so hopefully these new photos will help hold you over until then. We're currently planning some SXSW coverage, and should have interviews for with the cast and crew of Evil Dead, along with early impressions of the movie.
We recently mentioned that the original cut of Evil Dead was NC-17 and needed to be cut down to receive an R rating. It has officially been given an R rating from the MPAA for “strong bloody violence and gore, some sexual content and language.” Directed by Fede Alvarez, Evil Dead sees a new cast of characters discovering the Necronomicon:
“Five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin where they discover a Book Of The Dead and unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.
A core cast of young, fresh talent includes Jane Levy (Suburgatory) as Mia; Shiloh Fernandez (Deadgirl, Red Riding Hood) as David; Lou Taylor Pucci (Carriers) as Eric; Jessica Lucas (Cloverfield) as Olivia and Elizabeth Blackmore (Legend of the Seeker) as Natalie.”
