EA has announced the release of an Alice: Madness Returns interactive storybook app in the US on the iTunes App Store. The storybook fills the gap between the original game and the new sequel: "Follow Alice’s journey through Rutledge Asylum in all-new prequel story, crafted by the original writer of American McGee’s Alice."

Not only is the app free, but if you complete the storybook, you'll also receive a $10 coupon good toward the purchase of Alice: Madness Returns. This is a pretty good deal if you planned on picking up the game anyway.

While the storybook app is currently only available to US customers using an iOS device (iPhone / iPad / iPod), they plan to roll out the app internationally and to other devices in the near future. If you would like to get an idea of what to expect from the storybook app, you can check out a trailer at their official Facebook page. Alice: Madness Returns will be released on June 14th for the PC, Xbox 360, and Playstation 3.
