The supernatural horror film Haunt, starring Jacki Weaver, has been picked up by IFC Midnight. Details on Haunt have been few and far between, but that will all change soon. The movie will be given a theatrical run and, looking at other recent IFC releases, we believe it will be a limited theatrical engagement, followed by a VOD and Blu-ray/DVD release.
“HAUNT is the story of a family that moves into a new home with a dark past. When their son becomes involved with a beautiful girl next door, and together they begin to explore their sexual awakening, they unwittingly invoke an alternative dimension of the house.”
The son is played by Harrison Gilbertson and Liana Liberato's character is the love interest next door. Jacki Weaver is starring as the former resident of the haunted house. The film is written by Andrew Barrer and directed by Mac Carter with QED International as producers alongside Rivergate Entertainment and Revolver Picture Company:
“We are all thrilled that IFC Midnight has acquired US rights — they’re experts in the genre and really know how to build excitement for a terrifying supernatural thriller like Haunt,” said John Hegeman, QED and Nick Phillips of Revolver via Screen Daily.
The release date hasn't been announced just yet, meanwhile we have the first official photo and poster for Haunt below. *This story was submitted by Jemma George.
