It has been officially announced that Mad Max will return to theaters in 2015. Warner Bros. has just set the release date for the newest movie, titled Mad Max: Fury Road, on May 15th, 2015. There are no other movies currently schedule to open on that weekend, but Avengers: Age of Ultron opens earlier in the month and Tomorrowland will open the week after.

Mad Max: Fury Road stars Tom Hardy in the lead role, and also features Charlize Theron and Nicholas Hoult. George Miller, who directed the previous installments, returned for the latest sequel and wrote the script with Nick Lathouris and Brendan McCarthy.

The release date is pretty far off, so don't be surprised if there's a date shift between now and then. Fans of the Mad Max series also have a video game adaptation to look forward to that could be out before the end of 2014. For more details, check out our previous coverage at:
