Previously, we reported on rumblings that New Line / Warner Bros. were interested in a spin-off of The Conjuring on top of a sequel. Titled Annabelle, the movie would follow the infamous doll we saw in the first film and it's now being reported that the project is officially moving forward.

The Wrap has confirmed that The Conjuring's Director of Photography, John R. Leonetti, is taking on directing duties for this movie. The script was written by Gary Dauberman, will be produced by Peter Safran, and James Wan will be involved as an executive producer.

The first casting news has also come in and it has been revealed that Annabelle Wallis (The Tudors) and Ward Horton (One Life to Live) will take on the lead roles in the movie. At this time it isn't known if this movie is planned as a full theatrical release or a home video release. Production will begin later this month in Los Angeles, so we'll keep Daily Dead readers posted on any news related to this project.
