There were a few new movies that opened this week, but none were able to take out Transformers: Age of Extinction over the holiday weekend. The latest installment of the Transformers franchise added an estimated $36.4 million over the weekend and has reached $174.7 million in the US.
Tammy was one of the new releases this week earned $32.9 million since opening on Wednesday. With a production budget of only $20 million, this isn't a bad take for the R-rated comedy. Deliver Us From Evil hoped to have the success that The Conjuring had last July, but it wasn't able to find an audience outside of the dedicated horror crowd. Still, Deliver Us From Evil carried a modest budget and should have no problem getting out of the red.
22 Jump Street continues to impress and crossed the $150 million mark in the US over the weekend. In fifth place, was How to Train Your Dragon 2 and itearned an estimated $158.8 million. Next week sees the release of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, which will have no problem taking the top spot at the box office. Here's a look at this week's top ten:
