Robin Hardy, director of the original version of The Wicker Man has written and directed a companion piece/sequel titled The Wicker Tree. While release details have not yet been finalized, there will be a US release from Anchor Bay in the near future.

The Wicker Tree is hitting the festival circuit, and Robin Hardy has revealed that he'll be filming another movie in The Wicker Man series in the very near future.

According to Bloody Disgusting, the very near future means that he begins filming next week. Hardy revealed this to fans while in town for The Wicker Tree's premiere at the Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal. We'll have more details on this as soon as they are released, but in the meantime, here is some information on The Wicker Tree in case you need to catch up:
