Weekend Box Office Update

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 was expected to easily take the top weekend spot, but it also had the biggest weekend opening in box office history, earning $168 million. The previous record was held by The Dark Knight, which earned $158 million in its first weekend.

Since opening, Transformers: Dark of the Moon has earned a total of $302 million and placed second this weekend. Horrible Bosses continues the trend of successful R-rated comedies, placing third with $17.6 million this week. The big opening next week is Captain America: The First Avenger.
