Roses are red…
Blood is too.
And the undead are even hungrier
In Zombie Date Night 2!
"From the clearly rotted mind of Steve Urena (Slow Pokes 1&2, Zombie Date Night, X-Maschina, Foul Mouth) comes the sequel to the critically acclaimed zombie romance comedy, Zombie Date Night!"
Zombie Date Night 2 is currently on Kickstarter and we caught up with Steve Urena to discuss his latest comic book:
Why is this story important to you?
Steve Urena: Zombie Date Night is important to me because I feel like the Zombie genre needed something different. I always thought dating/ trying to form a relationship during a zombie outbreak could be very interesting. Dating is scary enough and adding that undead creature element makes it more appealing to me. During a zombie outbreak everyone relies on each other to survive, so what if you were on a date and a zombie invasion happened? Your level of trust would have to speed up knowing you could be a zombie's lunch.
What will Daily Dead readers love about Zombie Date Night?
Steve Urena: Zombie Date Night 2 is perfect for Daily Dead readers because we've got zombies, horror, comedy, great merch, and even zombie valentines for this current Kickstarter. If you like the zombie genre and want a different spin on it in the modern dating world, then I believe this is something Daily Dead readers will love. It's got zombies for sure, but it also has heart and a load of laughs.
What are your zombie movie inspirations that lead to Zombie Date Night and its sequel?
Steve Urena: I was heavily inspired by my own dating life, Dawn of the Dead, Zombieland, Train to Busan and of course Shaun of the Dead. It's got horror and heart with a lot of comedy in between. Comedy and horror have similar beats in taking the audience on a ride they won't forget, so mixing the genres made something unique and fun for comic book readers and horror lovers to enjoy.

READY FOR THE SECOND DATE?
"Still recovering from the awkwardness of their first Zombie Date Night, main characters Jack and Ginger have reached the scariest place to be…the friend zone.
When their survival group realizes they’re running out of food, the enthusiastic and outgoing Ginger leads the charge with a very reluctant Jack to find sustenance before the zombaes (zombies who can only survive with a mate) eat them first. Will the second date be better than the first or will this situationship be food for the undead?
Returning for the sequel is the original team behind the first Zombie Date Night. Incredible art drawn by Sergi Domènech. Amazing colors by Josh Jensen. Eye-catching lettering by Anthony Rella and editing by the wonderfully talented Allegra Calderaro. This 24-page, hilarious action-packed comic has got everything: laughs, zombies, romance and, of course, over-the-top violence!"
Take a look at preview art from the comic book below, along with the shirt design from Vertebrae33 and valentines by Jason Thomas. To support Zombie Date Night 2, visit:
