If you've been itching to see Robert Englund play Freddy Krueger since he last played the man of your nightmares in 2003's Freddy vs. Jason, then you're in luck, because ABC's 1980s-set series The Goldbergs will feature Englund as Freddy in a guest-starring role in this year's Nightmare on Elm Street-themed Halloween episode!

Announced on the official Twitter page for The Goldbergs, Englund will reprise his role as Freddy Krueger on the show's Halloween episode, and you can even see Englund back in the Freddy makeup in the video below (in which he chats with The Goldbergs co-star Wendi McLendon-Covey).

The Associated Press (AP) reports that the name of the Halloween episode will be “Nightmare on Elk Avenue,” and it will focus on "the fears of the show’s teenage protagonist, Adam [Sean Giambrone], after seeing A Nightmare on Elm Street."

According to the AP, Englund calls his return as the iconic dream stalker (a role he played in eight films) a "spooky valentine to the fans."

The AP also shared a photo (taken by John Fleenor/ABC, see below) of Englund's Krueger with his arm around McLendon-Covey in a recreation of his pose with A Nightmare on Elm Street star Heather Langenkamp.

The Goldbergs Halloween episode will air sometime in October, and we'll be sure to keep Daily Dead readers updated as more details are revealed!
