The technology of seemingly distant futures in science fiction films and novels is now seeping into the real world of the present day, and at the upcoming Alien Expo in Dallas, sci-fi fans can gather to celebrate the facts and the fiction of the beloved genre.
Press Release: From the producers of Alien Con comes an experience unlike any other! For three days at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel and Convention Center, Alien Expo will be bringing you the best in science fact, science fiction and pop culture!
The line between myth and reality is attenuating. What previous generations deemed unlikely or even impossible is sitting on the brink of mainstream exposure: missions to Mars, virtual reality gaming, evidence of alien lifeforms. When Paul Reiser and Sigourney Weaver filmed the scene in ALIENS featuring a video phone call, they surely couldn’t have predicted the appeareance of internet programs like Skype or FaceTime. When THE MATRIX first arrived in 1999, actual VR technology was nowhere near what it is today, and the thought of humanity sitting in small pods connected to the rest of the world was bizarre and frightening. Now, science and technology enables us to do nearly everything from the comfort of our own homes. Science fact or science fiction? Alien Expo will be celebrating both.
Over the three-day weekend of May 26-28, the Sheraton will be hosting scores of celebrities, experts, comic book artists, VR demonstrators, and vendors from around the world. There will be informative panels, signings, and a full-scale independent film fest in the form of Silver Scream 2017.
Mark your calendars, Texans, because Cosmic Con is coming to prove that truth really is stranger than fiction — or at least equally strange. And whether that means weird science or the science of STRANGER THINGS, you can explore it at Alien Expo, Dallas—where everything is Bigger!
