Rumors are floating around that the upcoming Ridley Scott-directed Alien prequel has been delayed. Script Flags is reporting that the prequel has now been pushed back to a release date sometime in 2013. There is no official word yet, but this wouldn't be surprising given previous reports that there were budget issues and script re-writes.
We haven't seen a good Alien film since 1992, so personally, I'm fine with the delay. Alien is one of my favorite movies of all time, and while I'm excited that Ridley Scott is back to direct the prequel(s), I'd rather them take as much time as needed to make a great movie. My hope is that the reason for the delay is interest in getting this right and that Fox decided not waste this opportunity they have with Scott back in the director's chair. We'll see (hopefully) in 2013....
