Hello, dear readers! A new month is nearly upon us, and in anticipation of the arrival of April, we have a rundown on a brand-new batch of VOD & Digital releases that will be coming out throughout the next few weeks. April kicks off in a big way with several different releases, including Roland Emmerich’s Moonfall, Let the Wrong One In from Conor McMahon, and the home invasion thriller Barbarians. Both Midnight and Vicious Fun are making their digital debuts on the 5th, Cursed Films returns for a second season just a few days later on April 7th, and we get the long-awaited sequel Wyrmwood: Apocalypse on the 14th. 

Other Digital and VOD titles being released in the latter half of April include The Cellar on the 15th, Bloody Oranges on the 19th, Virus 32 on April 21st, and then Joe Bob Briggs and Darcy return for a brand-new season of The Last Drive-In on April 29th.

Moonfall (Lionsgate) - April 1st

In Moonfall, a mysterious force knocks the Moon from its orbit around Earth and sends it hurtling on a collision course with life as we know it. With mere weeks before impact and the world on the brink of annihilation, NASA executive and former astronaut Jo Fowler (Academy Award® winner Halle Berry) is convinced she has the key to saving us all – but only one astronaut from her past, Brian Harper (Patrick Wilson, “Midway”) and a conspiracy theorist K.C. Houseman (John Bradley, “Game of Thrones”) believes her. Jurassic Island (Uncork’d Entertainment) - April 5th

Ava uncovers the whereabouts of her missing Father to an uncharted Island; a mythical lost world uncovered before them by her grandfather. Joined by a group of adventurers and scientists, they arrive at Jurassic Island where it becomes clear that the previous team had run into disaster. Dinosaurs and toxic leeches mean it’s no longer a search for her father, but a battle for survival.

Midnight (Epic Pictures) - April 5th

Fear grips the country of South Korea as a serial killer, (Squid Game star, Wi Ha-Jun), stalks its residents. Kyung-mi, a deaf woman, is out late with her mother when she stumbles upon a young woman bleeding out in a dark alley. Now a witness to the killer’s brutal crime, Kyung-mi is being ruthlessly hunted down. Will she survive or become his victim?

On the Trail of UFOs: Night Visitors (1091 Pictures) - April 5th

In Night Visitors, LeGro and Small Town Monsters founder Seth Breedlove explore a cattle ranch property, as well as a mutilation site and examine evidence left behind.

Prototype (Left Films) - April 5th

In the near future, life-like androids with artificial intelligence have been created to help people with menial household tasks. The prototype, One, created by Roger Marshall and tested by his family, proves to be popular but flawed. Roger has been working on a new model, Two, whose improved features show promise of its super-human abilities. As tensions rise between Roger and wife Shelley, the androids malfunction and the lives of the whole family are soon in danger of Two's sinister plans.

Vicious Fun (RLJE Films) - April 5th

In VICIOUS FUN, Joel is a caustic film critic for a national horror magazine who unwittingly finds himself trapped in a self-help group for serial killers. With no other choice, he attempts to blend in with his homicidal surroundings or risk becoming the next victim.

Cursed Films II (Shudder) - Exclusively on Shudder April 7th (New Episodes Every Thursday)

Shudder’s acclaimed documentary series is back to explore the facts and myths surrounding a new batch of famous films some consider cursed. The new season will feature The Wizard of Oz, Rosemary’s Baby, Stalker, The Serpent and the Rainbow, and Cannibal Holocaust. Featuring new interviews with FX expert and former Mythbusters host Adam Savage, Oscar-winning cinematographer Roger Deakins, actor Bill Pullman, and director Ruggero Deodato, among many others.

Godforsaken (Terror Films) - April 8th

An indie filmmaker visits his hometown to attend a childhood friend’s funeral. When she seemingly rises from the dead during her wake with mysterious abilities, he and a group of friends begin to investigate and record the town’s experience as they try to get to the truth. Some claim she is God; some claim she is pure evil. They soon learn that not all miracles are holy.

Reed’s Point (Uncork’d Entertainment) - April 12th

A psychological-thriller/creature-feature that tells of Sarah and Alex, two survivors of an RV crash near the New Jersey Pine Barrens. On the anniversary of the accident, Sarah and Alex drive to Reed’s Point to investigate the crash site. Things go downhill quickly as they find themselves stuck in the woods unsure of who they can trust and questioning if monsters really do exist.

Reign of Chaos (Left Films) - April 12th

When the world is gripped by a plague unleashed by the evil lord Chaos, and humans are turned into rabid creatures, mankind can only be saved by three young women, descendants of a Goddess, with the power to stop Chaos' evil.

Wyrmwood: Apocalypse (XYZ Films) - April 14th

Rhys lives in the zombie-infested wasteland. His job is to capture civilians and deliver them to what's left of the military. When Rhys captures a half-zombie-half-human named Grace, he comes to believe she is the key to ending the apocalypse.

Pacific Rim: The Black (Season Two) (Netflix) - Exclusively on Netflix April 19th

Virus 32 (Shudder) - Exclusively on Shudder April 21st

A virus breaks out and a chilling massacre rages through the streets. The sick become hunters, and only calm their fever by unscrupulously killing all those not yet infected. Unaware of this, Iris and her daughter spend the day in the sports club where Iris works as a security guard. When night falls, their fight for survival beings. Their only hope of salvation arrives when they discover that after each attack, the infected seem to stop for 32 seconds of calm before attacking again.

Children of Sin (CWM Entertainment) - April 22nd

After being sent to a sinister religious retreat by their stepfather, two siblings fight to escape in order to save their mother from harm's way.

The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs (Shudder) - Exclusively on Shudder April 29th (New Episodes Every Friday)

The hit series returns with Briggs, the world’s foremost drive-in movie critic, presenting eclectic horror movie double features, interrupting the films to expound upon their merits, histories, and significance to genre cinema. The season premiere will feature a celebration of The Last Drive-In’s 100th movie since Joe Bob’s first Shudder marathon in 2018, with surprise special guests.
