Although Arnold Schwarzenegger has been working on a number of films in the past year, we've been wondering what property he'd pick for a big budget return. Previously, it looked like it was going to be The Terminator, but it has been revealed that he will be returning to the role of Conan.

Universal announced plans to reboot the Conan franchise again with The Legend Of Conan. The term reboot is being used a little lightly here, however, as Universal distributed the first two Conan films and the new movie is said to follow up on the events we saw at the end of the first movie:

"The original ended with Arnold on the throne as a seasoned warrior, and this is the take of the film we will make... It’s that Nordic Viking mythic guy who has played the role of king, warrior, soldier and mercenary, and who has bedded more women than anyone, nearing the last cycle of his life. He knows he’ll be going to Valhalla, and wants to go out with a good battle."

The Legend of Conan will not have any ties to the most recent reboot attempt or Conan the Destroyer, but it has not been said how closely it will reference the events of the first movie. The film will be produced by Paradox Entertainment's Fredrik Malmberg, along with Chris Morgan. Universal is interested in a summer 2014 release date, but this is a very early announcement so nothing is definite at this point. It's unlikely that we'll have a director or casting announcements until early next year, but we'll update this story with more information as it becomes available.
