The cast of the upcoming Carrie remake is starting to fill out and we have an update on two new additions. Chronicle's star Alex Russell (pictured below) and Off Broadway actor Ansel Elgort are the latest to join the cast, according to Variety. Alex is in negotiations to play the role of a bully, while Elgort is planned to play a friend (Tommy?) who takes Carrie to the prom.

Chloe Moretz was the first to sign on and will be playing the new Carrie White, and Julianne Moore recently came on board to play her mother. Gabriella Wilde will play Sue Snell, one of the popular girls at school who convinces her boyfriend to take Carrie to the prom.

The movie will be directed by Kimberly Peirce and has an official release date of March 15, 2013. In terms of what we can expect from the story, it has previously been reported that this version of Carrie will more closely follow Stephen King’s original book than the 1976 movie from Brian De Palma.
