After Robert Kirkman's success with The Walking Dead, we've been waiting to see what other Skybound comic book series would be getting a movie or TV deal. News out of the Skybound Comic-Con panel is that a deal has been sealed with Universal Television to develop a TV series based on Clone:

"Robert Kirkman, creator/writer of the Eisner Award-winning The Walking Dead and Executive Producer/writer of the hit AMC TV show based upon his comic book series and best selling graphic novels has been the talk of the San Diego event this week. From the 10th Anniversary Party of The Walking Dead event with Hyundai and Future US to The Walking Dead Escape at Petco Park to the announcement of a new television series at the Skybound panel today. Skybound, Kirkman's imprint at Image Comics, debuted Clone from writer/creator David Schulner late last year and now and now the comic book series has landed a deal at NBCU for development as a network series. This is part of Schulner's overall deal with Universal and Schulner will adapt his comic and executive produce alongside Kirkman, David Alpert (The Walking Dead) and David Engel.

Clone is a high-octane thriller with one sci-fi twist. What if there were more of you? And what if you could save those versions of yourself from being killed. The show’s themes of identity and nature verses nurture are intrinsic to the roller-coaster ride of a story.

Schulner credits Kirkman for showing him the ropes. "I knew if I went off the rails too badly Robert would be there to put me back on track. Now I've been writing the comic for two years, issue #9 comes out next week and I just finished writing issue 15, so to be able to turn it into a television show is just icing on the cake."

Schulner is repped by UTA and Myman, Greenspan, Fineman, Fox, Rosenberg & Light LLP.
