"Celebrate EC’s New Class of Agonizing Artists with Splatter-Fueled Specials from Charlie Adlard (The Walking Dead), David Lapham (Stray Bullets), Sami Kivelä (The Forever Home), and Leomacs (Blood of the Wolf Man)!"

We're almost a week out from San Diego Comic-Con, and there's an incredible offering of horror comic books from publishers and creators across the industry. Today, we have an exclusive announcement you won't want to miss: Oni Press and William M. Gaines Agent, Inc. will be rolling out a new series of one-shot celebrations "spotlighting the boldest and bloodiest talents from EC's new class of caustic cartoonists!"

"Our first victim? Comics legend and Eisner Award-winning artist Charlie Adlard (The Walking Dead, Of The Earth), who takes center stage this November with ARTISTS FROM THE ABYSS: CHARLIE ADLARD #1!"

Not only do we have an exclusive look at Charlie Adlard's cover for this issue, but a preview of the story he teamed up with Chris Condon for: Death and Pickaxes.  Check out the preview below, along with all of the details on the new Artists From The Abyss one-shots!

From the Press Release: "For the first time between two covers, survey Adlard's punishing portfolio of uninvited resurrections, souls sold cheap, and spectacularly sadistic horrors as illustrated in the immortal EC Comics manner (with lots and lots of red, naturally). Plus: A brand-new, never-before-told tale reuniting Adlard with acclaimed writer and fellow survivor of the Tormentor's rack: Chris Condon (Ultimate Wolverine, That Texas Blood)!

Each ad-free ARTISTS FROM THE ABYSS special will recollect the artists’ greatest and goriest contributions to the EC Comics canon, alongside a brand-new, pulse-pounding EC shocker specifically scripted for each one-shot special by a cavalcade of “all-slaughter” writing talents, including Condon, David & Maria Lapham (Underheist), Greg Pak (Planet Hulk), and Ben H. Winters (Archie).

“Across nearly a century of comics history, EC Comics has a strong claim to the greatest stable of artists ever assembled by a single publisher. With our new slate of acclaimed EC titles at Oni Press, it’s been a tremendous privilege to continue that terrifying, tantalizing tradition in style by uniting some of the comics industry’s greatest living talents and fastest rising stars alike for new tales of grievous horror and shocking science-fiction,” said Senior Editor Allyson Gronowitz. “Now we’re taking it up a notch with a novel celebration of our newest crop of grisled EC veterans – and what better way to start than with 32 pages of brilliant artwork by the inimitable Charlie Adlard?”

Buckle up, ghoulatics, because EC’s ARTISTS FROM THE ABYSS are sure to be the most murderous mags you'll read all winter! Shovel and lyme not included.

For more on the next traumatizing year of EC Comics’ thrills and chills, join Oni Press at San Diego Comic Con on Thursday, July 24th at 11 am PT in Room 28DE for the “Oni Press: The Loudest Thing in Color” panel presentation! The groundbreaking independent publisher behind the most notorious name in terror’s blockbuster resurrection is about to begin countdown to its 30th anniversary … and to celebrate, we’re unveiling a stunning slate of new releases for 2026 and beyond with creators Tyler Crook (OUT OF ALCATRAZ, ARCHIE GOES TO HELL), Bryan Lee O’Malley (SCOTT PILGRIM), Tradd Moore (TOUCH ME SOMEPLACE NOWHERE), Curt Pires & Juan Gedeon (SUPER MONDO MEGA MUTTS), and Christian Ward (THE FOREVER HOME), alongside President & Publisher Hunter Gorinson, Editor-in-Chief Sierra Hahn, and more!
