Showtime has given the official Dexter website a facelift for the upcoming 6th season and provided an updated plot synopsis. The marketing for the new season has been religious in tone, and the synopsis reveals that Dexter will be going up against a "delusional religious zealot".

The first episode of the new season will premiere on October 2nd and takes place one year after the events of the previous season. On top of the return of the regular cast members, we will see plenty of new faces, including Molly Parker, Mos Def, Edward James Olmos, Colin Hanks, Brea Grant, and Billy Brown.

"The explosively popular DEXTER® is back with a vengeance for a sixth season of startling suspense and unexpected twists. It's been a year since last season's shocking and heartbreaking conclusion, and mild mannered criminologist-cum-grisly serial killer Dexter Morgan has come to terms with who he is. But his existence is shattered when he crosses paths with an enemy unlike any he's faced before. A delusional religious zealot with unflinching convictions, this new adversary soon draws Dexter into a dangerous game that could well end in disaster."
