Eli Roth hasn't directed a film since Hostel: Part II in 2007, so horror fans have been eagerly awaiting news on when he'd direct a new feature. It has been officially announced that his next directorial effort will be a movie titled The Green Inferno, which begins filming later this year:

“I’ve had an amazing few years producing, writing and acting, and am very excited to get back in the director’s chair. I’ve been working on this idea for several years, and was inspired by filming in Chile and cannot wait to get back,” said Roth. “Worldview backs my vision and believes in me, and is giving me the support I need and the freedom to take risks and make something daring and terrifying. I believe this will be the scariest and most intense film I have made to date. I want to audiences worldwide to feel my return to directing was worth the wait.”

At this time there are no additional details on the plot, but we'll let readers know as soon as anything is released. Worldview Entertainment will finance and produce the film, and it has been announced that production will begin this fall in Peru and Chile.
