With the remake of The Evil Dead expected to start filming next month, the main cast is starting to fill out. We now have information on who's responsible for unleashing the dead.
Variety reports that Lou Taylor Pucci (pictured below) is in talks to join the film as Eric, "an intense academic whose intellectual curiosity gets him and his friends into trouble". It sounds like Lou will be playing the one who finds and unlocks the powers of the Necronomicon.
In the last few weeks, the film has cast its female and male leads with Jane Levy and Shiloh Fernandez. **Spoiler** It is rumored that Jane Levy will be the female equivalent of Ash in this film. **End Spoiler**
Fede Alvarez is directing the remake and wrote the original script, along with Rodo Sayagues. It was previously announced that Diablo Cody had been hired to polish up the script. Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, and Bruce Campbell are producing. Filming is expected to begin later this year in New Zealand, and a release date has been set for April 12th, 2013.
