We've officially crossed the "Halfway to Halloween" barrier, so get ready for all kinds of news centered around our favorite holiday, including the return of Dan Brereton's Nocturnals. Originally published by Big Wow Art as a graphic novel in 2017, the gorgeously painted Nocturnals: The Sinister Path is getting re-released by Dark Horse Comics as single issues with brand-new material in celebration of the 31st anniversary of Nocturnals. We have all the details, along with an exclusive look at the cover art just for Daily Dead readers:

From the Press Release: "Happy Halloweeniversary! Dark Horse Comics and award-winning cartoonist Dan Brereton (Giantkiller, The Psycho, The Last Battle) celebrate 31 spooky years of Brereton’s hand-painted supernatural-noir comic series with Nocturnals: The Sinister Path. This miniseries is written and illustrated by Brereton and lettered by Lois Buhalis (X-Men, Spawn, Blacksad), and will be the first time Nocturnals: The Sinister Path will be available in single issues, as it was previously published in graphic novel format in 2017 by Big Wow Art. The first issue will include two pages of character introductions, a new cover by Brereton, and a variant cover by Sean Gordon Murphy, with every issue also featuring new pinups and two brand-new story pages."

About Nocturnals: The Sinister Path: "A war is being fought for the soul of Pacific City. It’s a war fought by monsters, both human and supernatural. But luckily, some of the monsters are on our side. The Nocturnals—a band of misfit vigilantes led by Doc Horror, his supernaturally-gifted daughter Evening (aka Halloween Girl), and an armed revenant known as the Gunwitch—are all that stand against the eldritch criminal underworld of Pacific City.

The death of the mysterious Judge Hemlock opens a macabre power vacuum in the eldritch underworld. But when the Nocturnals investigate the occult-enshrouded Hemlock house, what they find will lead them down a twisted and deadly sinister path."

Someone recently described Nocturnals as being like a really good dream,” said Brereton. “That’s pretty close to how I feel about it—a good dream you’re completely immersed in, you don’t want it to end—and when you wake up you want back in. Being able to go back again and again over the last three decades is the best feeling.”

Get yourself a Halloween treat early this year when Nocturnals: The Sinister Path #1 (of 4) is available on September 3rd. You can pre-order from your local comic shop now for $4.99. And, if you enjoy Dan’s work and Nocturnals, be sure to check out Nocturnals 31, his new art book, currently available and successfully funded on KickstarterFor the latest from Dark Horse Comics, visit: www.darkhorse.com
