Last night, Daily Dead headed over to the red carpet premiere for the highly anticipated season five premiere of The Walking Dead, which saw numerous cast and crew reunited in celebration of the big event.

During the press event for The Walking Dead, we were able to catch up with a few familiar faces, including executive producers Greg Nicotero, Gale Anne Hurd and series co-star Emily Kinney, who all teased some interesting tidbits giving fans a taste of what’s to come during the upcoming fifth season.

Nicotero also revealed some details on just one of his Easter egg zombies that die-hard fans should keep an eye out for in the coming weeks of The Walking Dead (hint: it celebrates the 10th anniversary of Shaun of the Dead) and Hurd discussed many of the returning series’ directors for this latest season of TWD, including Ernest Dickerson, Seith Mann and Nicotero (of course). Hurd, a true pioneer in the world of female filmmakers, also chatted about why it was important to her that The Walking Dead welcome back several women directors to the helm this year as well.

Watch the video highlights from the red carpet below and be sure to tune in when the fifth season of The Walking Dead returns October 12th at 9/8 pm CST on AMC. Be sure to check back next week for the second issue of DEADLY - Horror & Sci-Fi Magazine, where we'll feature an exclusive interview with Andrew Lincoln and an early review of Season 5's first episode.
