The world of The Purge has so much potential, with so many facets of society and the current political landscape to explore, so I'm really excited for the TV series. Casting is currently underway, and we've received word that Fiona Dourif has joined the series as a charismatic cult leader:
"Fiona Dourif (“Cult of Chucky,” “The Black List”) has been casting in a recurring role in USA Network/SYFY’s THE PURGE. Dourif will recur as the cool and offbeat, Good Leader Tavis, the much-adored, charismatic cult leader, dispensing blessings to her fawning followers.
From Blumhouse Television (HBO’s upcoming SHARP OBJECTS, Hulu’s INTO THE DARK, and Showtime’s LOUDEST VOICE IN THE ROOM) and Universal Cable Productions (Amazon’s HOMECOMING and USA Network’s MR. ROBOT and THE SINNER), THE PURGE, which will air on USA Network and SYFY, will be executive produced by the film franchise creator James DeMonaco and led by Jason Blum. Additionally, the entire team behind the blockbuster franchise are on board to executive produce: Michael Bay with Brad Fuller and Andrew Form under the Platinum Dunes banner and Sebastien K. Lemercier. Thomas Kelly serves as executive producer/showrunner of the series. Emmy® and Golden Globe® award-winner Anthony Hemingway (UNSOLVED: THE MURDERS OF TUPAC AND THE NOTORIOUS B.I.G. and AMERICAN CRIME STORY: THE PEOPLE V. O.J. SIMPSON) will direct and serve as executive producer on the premiere episode.
Dourif is currently recurring on the NBC drama “The Blacklist.” She also had a recurring role on Showtime’s “Shameless” earlier this year. Dourif was a series regular role in the BBC America/AMC rendition of the cult-classic “Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency” and had a leading role in Gus Van Sant’s ABC miniseries “When We Rise.” She also recurred on the WGN drama “Manhattan” among many other series. Dourif also starred in the latest installments of the classic horror franchise CHUCKY, titled “Cult of Chucky” and “Curse of Chucky.” Dourif is represented by Innovative Artists.
Gabriel Chavarria (“East Los High”), Lili Simmons (“Ray Donovan”), Jessica Garza (“Six”), Amanda Warren (“The Leftovers”), Colin Woodell (“Unsane”), Hannah Anderson (“New Mutants”) and Lee Tergesen (“Oz”) lead the cast as series regulars. William Baldwin (“Backdraft”) and Fiona Dourif (“Curse of Chucky”) recur."
