The first official photos and synopsis have been released for Maniac, directed by Franck Khalfoun (P2) and starring Elijah Wood. The film is a remake of the 1980 William Lustig film, featuring Elijah Wood as a “a serial killer who works at a shop that sells antique mannequins. He finds victims on the Internet and stalks them like prey, all the while suffering from hallucinations that throw him back into the past, when he was abused by his own mother.”

The film also stars Nora Arnezeder and will be present at this years Cannes Film Festival. Here is the official synopsis: "Just when the streets seemed safe, a serial killer with a fetish for scalps is back and on the hunt.

Frank is the withdrawn owner of a mannequin store, but his life changes when young artist Anna appears asking for his help with her new exhibition. As their friendship develops and Frank's obsession escalates, it becomes clear that she has unleashed a long-repressed compulsion to stalk and kill."
